The Chicago Blackhawks secured a big piece of their blueline, signing defenceman Brent Seabrook to a three-year, $10.5 million contact.
The 22-year old Seabrook has scored a career high seven goals to go along with 12 assists this season. He also sports a plus/minus rating of +12. In 207 career games, the Richmond, B.C. has 16 goals and 59 assists.

The Carolina Hurricanes placed center Rod Brind’Amour on injured reserve Monday.
Brind’Amour tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a February 14 victory over Pittsburgh and will miss the remainder of the season. The Hurricanes’ captain is expected to be sidelined four to six months.

It looks like Los Angeles Kings defenceman Rob Blake’s name can be taken off the trade market.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the 38-year old, who will be a free agent on July 1 does not want to waive his no trade clause and has not been asked by the team to do so. “I want to stay here and remain a King,” said Blake told the Times. “I stressed that with them and talked about the plans of the Kings and the future and a lot of different things. That was it.”

Marian Gaborik scored the winner with 4.4 seconds left in overtime, and the Minnesota Wild held off a furious rally to beat the Nashville Predators 5-4 on Sunday.
Gaborik beat Predators goalie Chris Mason from the left circle on a 2-on-1 break after taking a cross-ice pass from Pavol Demitra, giving the Wild the win after Nashville tied it with a three-goal third period. Gaborik finished the game with two goals and an assist.

Brad Boyes’ 31st goal snapped a five-game point drought, Eric Brewer had a career-best four assists and the St. Louis Blues scored a season-high three power-play goals in a 5-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday night.
Rick Nash scored his 31st goal, his fourth short-handed, for Columbus. It’s the second short-handed goal of the month for Nash, who has six goals in six games against the Blues this season.
